My initial reaction to the brief instantly brought the Bond movie 'Moonraker' to mind. I am interested in outer space and the genre of films connected with outer space. I thought that the brief was a very clever and interesting way of creating an animation from a film theme. The 3d max software would enable the Space Station, 'Moonraker' Shuttle, Laser and Drax's Globes to be constructed in an animated form.
In this 1979 film the shape of the artefacts are mainly spheres and tubes,
where the objects would be readily created using standard primitives.
I learn today of the sad loss of John Barry who composed and conducted the music for the James Bond films including 'Moonraker'. John Barry also composed the musical scores to many other films and indeed received many Oscars for his contribution to the
film music industry.
